There is no doubt about etching image and text content on a blank metal plate. First of all, the image and text content should be formed (or transferred to the metal plate) with certain materials and ways.
Computer engraving is to design the desired graphics or text on the computer, then use the computer engraving machine to engrave graphics on the self-adhesive, the engraving will be self-adhesive on the blank metal plate, remove the self-adhesive of the parts to be etched to reveal the metal texture, and then etching, this method is still widely used, the advantages of the process is simple, low cost, easy to operate. Limited precision: the smallest text generally engraved by the lettering machine is about 1 cm, and smaller texts will be deformed and distorted, and cannot be used. The graphic content is first turned into a black and white film (film), then coated with a layer of light-sensitive anti-corrosion ink on a blank metal plate, and then dried. After drying, the film will be covered on the metal plate and put into a special exposure machine (exposure on the printing plate machine, and then developed by a special developer. After development, the resist ink in the unexposed portion dissolves and rinses off, revealing the true mark surface of the metal. Due to the photochemical reaction, the exposed part of the photosensitive resist ink forms an adhesive film that is firmly attached to the surface, and the metal plate is used to protect this part of the metal surface from corrosion.
The indirect method is also known as the screen-printing method. First, the graphic content is made of a screen-printing version and then printed on the metal plate a corrosion inhibitor ink. With this method, an anti-corrosion layer with graphics is formed on the metal plate, which is then dried, etched, and polished.
The principle of choosing direct and indirect methods: direct method has high graphic accuracy and good quality, simple operation, but low efficiency and higher cost than the indirect method in the case of large quantities. The indirect method has poorer graphic accuracy of metal tag and logos, but low cost and high efficiency. It is suitable for mass use.
The purpose of etching is to make the metal plate with pictures and text recessed (and vice versa, so that the metal logo shows a concave and convex effect, one is for aesthetics, and the other is to make the pigment filled in the graphics lower than the logo plane so as not to wipe off the color frequently.
